Spending Plan

What happens when you do something — anything — without a plan? Sure, being spontaneous is fun. But what if you start driving without looking at the gas gauge? Or, you take two new DVDs to the checkout without looking in your wallet to see if you have enough to pay for them?

You know the answer.

That’s exactly what a budget is about. It’s about being able to afford your needs and meet your goals. So ask yourself these questions:

  • How much income do I have to pay for things?
  • How much am I actually spending?
  • What can I do if I don’t have enough income to match my spending or meet my goals?

Creating a good plan, and sticking to it, can help you answer these questions. And, as you’ll see, it can be fun, too.
