Planning for College

Participating in a federal work-study arrangement while you’re in college is another great way to cover your costs. You apply by completing the FAFSA and sometimes a separate application at the college you attend.

If you are eligible for a work-study program, you’re likely to be hired before other students who apply for work. There should be an office on campus that can help you explore jobs or paid internships.

You might want to look first for a position in a field related to your intended career. A job in your major or field of interest doesn’t just fill your piggy bank; it can be an instant resume-builder and help you make contacts for the future.
